Authentic Chinese: Stir-Fried Beef, Egg Lo Mein, & Bok Choy



In the second class of our Authentic China series, you’ll dive into the art of Chinese stir-frying with recipes straight from the Guangdong region, the birthplace of Cantonese cuisine. Developed by Chef Timmy Kirk, who lived and cooked in China for five years, this class gives you a hands-on look at what makes real Chinese food so flavorful and balanced.

You’ll start by making two classic stir-fry dishes. First, a Baby Bok Choy dish that can translate to many other vegetables. Then, we’ll turn up the heat with Cumin Beef, a bold and savory dish that’s loaded with aromatics and impossible to stop eating.

To complete the meal, you’ll make Egg Lo Mein, stir-fried just the way it should be: chewy noodles, toasty sesame oil, and all the umami you crave—no takeout menu required.

This is everyday comfort food in China, and by the end of class, you’ll understand why. Learn essential stir-fry techniques, build confidence with a wok, and walk away ready to recreate these dishes at home.

Our recipes use common ingredients that may or may not be specified in the menu, including various fruits and vegetables, nuts, meats, spices, wheat flours, etc. If you have a food allergy or dietary restriction we should be aware of, please call or email before attending the class. We may or may not be able to accommodate.

All sales are final. A minimum 48-hour notice via email (info@thelearningkitchen.com) is required for class rescheduling. A minimum 7-day notice via phone or in-person is required for class cancellations or rescheduling for reservation of four or more guests. If you are unable to attend a class, you are encouraged to send someone in your place. We cannot make exceptions. If you have a large group, consider a private party!
