From the moment The Learning Kitchen was born, we knew we wanted our cooking classes to be different from others in the Cincinnati, OH area. Each month we offer a class calendar for cooks of all skill levels, using seasonal foods that are locally grown when possible.

Hands-On Cooking Classes

Our hands-on classes are truly hands-on, you'll cook at your own cooktop and eat all you cook...no group cooking here!

The center of our kitchen is a cooking island equipped with 12 student stations and an instructor's station. Each student has two burners, pots and pans and all the tools needed to cook the day's menu.

Our teaching chefs don't just tell you how to cook, you actually learn the techniques and recipes by cooking your own meal. From chopping the onion to sautéing the chicken to cutting the phyllo, you'll get to do it all—which really is the best way to learn. When the meal is complete, everyone gathers around the dining table to enjoy what they've created. All students receive copies of the day's recipes to take home.

Korean Bibimbap is a meal we can all agree on. It's delicious. Come and learn how to make all the little bits and bobs that make this rice bowl so tasty, and we'll show you how to achieve that crispy toasted rice on the bottom, everyone's favorite part!

Pizza from scratch may seem like a daunting task, but it's not as hard as you think! In this class you'll make and share your own Detroit style pizza, zesty pizza sauce, and you'll even pull your own mozzarella from curds!

This menu will fill you up with the flavors of fall and leave you wanting to sip some wine by the fire. We'll start with rich and crispy potato pancakes served with sour cream and chives. Then, we'll teach you the hows and whys of brining meat before walking you through an excellent method for searing a pork chop to perfection without drying it out, and how to make a pan sauce. On the side, you will cook some braised red cabbage with bacon, and our chef will serve up some roasted butternut squash family style.

You'll be churning your own Toasted Marshmallow gelato from scratch and creating all the accompaniments for a decadent S'more Sundae! While the Gelato is churning, we'll make a fun snack that's been all over Instagram- Korean-style Corndogs. Stuffed with cheese and rolled in a variety of fun toppings- this class will delight your inner child.

Mediterranean food is so enticing, and nothing beats the drama of freshly made bread. In this class you'll make a Greek salad with a vinaigrette, marinated chicken, handmade flatbread, and everybody's favorite... tzatziki sauce!

Did you know you can make ricotta cheese at home in under an hour? In this class you'll make Ricotta Cheese AND Cavatelli Pasta from scratch, then combine the two to make a simple and incredibly delicious dish.

'Tis the season for fresh vegetables and light meals that don't weigh you down in the summer heat. In this workshop you'll make three different pasta dishes that you can put on rotation all through the summer.

If you have ever wondered what authentic Chinese food is, this is your chance to find out! Chef Timmy Kirk lived in China for 5 years and fell in love with the food. Now he is back home, but he brought the flavors of China's most famous regional cuisine, Sichuan, with him.

Our second class in the "Authentic China" series is here, taught by Chef Timmy Kirk, who lived and worked in China for 5 years. This time he's covering Chinese Stir-Fries. You'll learn the proper techniques for a successful stir-fry.

Thai curries are the perfect example of the balance of flavors that makes certain foods so good. You'll make your favorite curry paste by hand with a mortar and pestle. Each guest makes their own choice of green, red, yellow, or penang curry.

Take a voyage on a Caribbean Cruise! You'll start with Plantain chips and Chimichurri sauce. Viva! Delicioso! Working at your own cooktop you'll learn how to peel, crush and make sweet and savory Plantain chips. Next you'll create your own Coconut Shrimp with Pina Colada Sauce and finally make Chicken Fried Island Rice with grilled Pineapple. You'll learn the techniques of Beer Battering, Breading with Coconut and Deep Frying. Finish your cruise to the Caribbean learning TLK's "Fried Rice Technique" that you can use for many different styles of quick cooking. This is going to be FUN!

In this class you have the opportunity to pickle and preserve some typical...and not so typical items. We'll then prepare a delicious meal centered around the foods that you pickled in class beginning with a fun summer cocktail and salad, followed by a deliciously seasonal Pork Chop dinner with sides!
