From the moment The Learning Kitchen was born, we knew we wanted our cooking classes to be different from others in the Cincinnati, OH area. Each month we offer a class calendar for cooks of all skill levels, using seasonal foods that are locally grown when possible.

Hands-On Cooking Classes

Our hands-on classes are truly hands-on, you'll cook at your own cooktop and eat all you cook...no group cooking here!

The center of our kitchen is a cooking island equipped with 12 student stations and an instructor's station. Each student has two burners, pots and pans and all the tools needed to cook the day's menu.

Our teaching chefs don't just tell you how to cook, you actually learn the techniques and recipes by cooking your own meal. From chopping the onion to sautéing the chicken to cutting the phyllo, you'll get to do it all—which really is the best way to learn. When the meal is complete, everyone gathers around the dining table to enjoy what they've created. All students receive copies of the day's recipes to take home.

This menu will fill you up with the flavors of fall and leave you wanting to sip some wine by the fire. We start with crispy potato pancakes. Then, we'll sear a pork chop to perfection, braise some red cabbage with bacon, and roast some butternut squash.

In this class, you'll learn the technique behind making basic gnocchi dough, then transform it into a savory recipe and a dessert recipe. Add Panko-Crusted chicken and you have a meal!

Two classic desserts, one delicious class! Our chefs will cook up a simple meal for you to enjoy before the desserts are done so you won't be eating only sweets for dinner (though we won't judge you if you do).

Chef Bobby Flay is known for bold flavors and balanced spices and in this class you'll prepare an entire meal of his recipes!

Making risotto may sound intimidating, but Chef will take all the mystery out of it in this class. You'll learn the steps to creating a quality risotto, and how turn it into something fantastic. We make three different types, because practice makes perfect!

If you love steak, this class is for you! Cooking at your own cooktop you and your date will prepare a meal that any high-end steakhouse would be proud to serve.

Korean Bibimbap is a meal we can all agree on. It's delicious. Come and learn how to make all the little bits and bobs that make this rice bowl so tasty, and we'll show you how to achieve that crispy toasted rice on the bottom, everyone's favorite part!

Thai curries are the perfect example of the balance of flavors that can make food so tasty. Even though you're cooking in pairs you'll each make your own curry paste by hand with a mortar and pestle. Choice of green, red, yellow, or penang curry.

Buttery noodles, a crispy chicken cutlet topped with a homemade tomato sauce, melty mozzarella, rich parmesan, and some fresh parsley. What more could you ask for? Dessert, of course. Strawberry Shortcake to be specific. Yum!

This menu will fill you up with the flavors of fall and leave you wanting to sip some wine by the fire. We'll start with rich and crispy potato pancakes served with sour cream and chives. Then, we'll teach you the hows and whys of brining meat before walking you through an excellent method for searing a pork chop to perfection without drying it out, and how to make a pan sauce. On the side, you will cook some braised red cabbage with bacon, and our chef will serve up some roasted butternut squash family style.

Have you made Indian food at home and wondered why it doesn't quite taste like the restaurant? What are they doing differently? Do they have some secret ingredients? The rich flavors of Indian cooking will be easier for you to replicate after taking this class.

Pizza from scratch may seem like a daunting task, but it's not as hard as you think! In this class you'll make your own pizza dough, neapolitan pizza sauce, and you'll even pull your own mozzarella from curds!

We're making authentic Spanish Paella with the classic flavors and aromas of saffron and perfectly crispy toasted bomba rice served right in the pan. For dessert, another Spanish classic... Arroz con Leche!

Learning to prepare perfect sticky rice and create artful sushi rolls can be a fun dinner party with friends or a romantic date night in.

We love teaching our homemade pasta classes, so we're putting a new twist on it by combining it with the superb carbonara. You will use an Italian Pasta Maker to create a batch of homemade pasta, and then use the delicious noodles to prepare Pasta Carbonara with Pancetta and plenty of Parmigiano.

Making fresh pasta is a fun skill to learn, and one that can really make delicious and impressive meals! In this class, you'll make your own pasta dough, then learn about and practice resting and kneading.

Did you know you can make ricotta cheese at home in under an hour? In this class you'll make Ricotta Cheese AND Cavatelli Pasta from scratch, then combine the two to make a simple and incredibly delicious dish.

This class will feature all of the down south flavors of the Carolina Low Country. When they talk about southern comfort, this is what they mean. It's a dish that will fill you up and leave you satisfied for hours.

Fried rice is everyone's favorite and in this class you'll learn to make 3 different Asian inspired Fried rice recipes. As an added bonus you'll develop your knife skills as you dice, julienne and mince!

Our second class in the "Authentic China" series is here, taught by Chef Timmy Kirk, who lived and worked in China for 5 years. This time he's covering Chinese Stir-Fries. You'll learn the proper techniques for a successful stir-fry.
