From the moment The Learning Kitchen was born, we knew we wanted our cooking classes to be different from others in the Cincinnati, OH area. Each month we offer a class calendar for cooks of all skill levels, using seasonal foods that are locally grown when possible.

Hands-On Cooking Classes

Our hands-on classes are truly hands-on, you'll cook at your own cooktop and eat all you cook...no group cooking here!

The center of our kitchen is a cooking island equipped with 12 student stations and an instructor's station. Each student has two burners, pots and pans and all the tools needed to cook the day's menu.

Our teaching chefs don't just tell you how to cook, you actually learn the techniques and recipes by cooking your own meal. From chopping the onion to sautéing the chicken to cutting the phyllo, you'll get to do it all—which really is the best way to learn. When the meal is complete, everyone gathers around the dining table to enjoy what they've created. All students receive copies of the day's recipes to take home.

Pizza from scratch may seem like a daunting task, but it's not as hard as you think! In this class you'll make your own pizza dough, neapolitan pizza sauce, and you'll even pull your own mozzarella from curds!

Around the World in Four Cuisines is a five-day culinary tour where students will learn hands-on how to make traditional dishes from four distinct cultures, then use the skills they've learned compete for a prize in a culinary battle! Students will spend one day each in Mexico, Greece, Thailand, and Japan learning related techniques, recipes, nutrition, and a little bit of culture. On the final day, the Secret Ingredient Competition challenges students skills, knowledge, and creativity.

Making fresh pasta is a great skill to learn and one that can help make delicious and impressive meals at home! In this class, you'll make your own Pasta Dough with simple ingredients, as you learn how to knead and rest the dough then use an Italian Pasta Machine to make Linguini.

'Tis the season for fresh vegetables and light meals that don't weigh you down in the summer heat. In this workshop you'll make three different pasta dishes that you can put on rotation all through the summer.

Did you know you can make ricotta cheese at home in under an hour? In this class you'll make Ricotta Cheese AND Cavatelli Pasta from scratch, then combine the two to make a simple and incredibly delicious dish.

Fried rice is everyone's favorite and in this class you'll learn to make 3 different Asian inspired Fried rice recipes. As an added bonus you'll develop your knife skills as you dice, julienne and mince!

Our second class in the "Authentic China" series is here, taught by Chef Timmy Kirk, who lived and worked in China for 5 years. This time he's covering Chinese Stir-Fries. You'll learn the proper techniques for a successful stir-fry.
